Don't get me wrong. Titillation has its place. But not in my beloved newspaper. It's like opening a bible and finding a clumsily graphic sex scene between Sarah and Abraham.
This is not to suggest you are not in some ways a mentor to me, but with respect to this letter, any emulation is purely incidental. It was not until I had sent the letter and felt an eerie chill that I noticed the footsteps I had followed.
You are crusty, and a bore, You've become what we used to abhor.
You are ugly and not too bright, But dammit, you are right!
Hey, what's the matter with kids these days?!
Are they really our future? Did someone not teach them well before letting them lead the way? But, hey, they can't take away my dignity. I'll always savor my CT memories. Back then when we knew what really important in collegiate journalism -- bickering over how many picas should border a pull-quote. Meanwhile, we ran top headlines with mispellings like "Almunus." At least we could put together one mean April Fool's edition. Medieval Times...oh, you guys...
