Feed bagged
Aug. 7th, 2006 04:37 pmThe Internet is a powerful thing. Did you know that there are special Web pages where you can type in the addresses of your favorite "blogs," like this one, and they'll put them all in one place for you so you don't have to skip around reading a bunch of different web pages? It's a technological marvel.
I think it's also really dumb. It operates on the shortsighted principle that content is content, without proper regard for context, design, history or personality. It's like having all your favorite TV shows performed by the cast of "ER."
For those of you who use these subscription services, you should know two things: First, none of my friends-only posts (of which there are admittedly few, at the moment) are being picked up by these subscription feeds. If you want to read those, you're going to have to get them here at home. Second, I am trying to figure out a way to disable my RSS feed so that I don't appear on these subscription services anymore.
Go on, tell me that these RSS feeds are quicker, easier, and more technologically advanced. You know what? So is the Filet-O-Fish.
